SUMMARY
BAUER COMPRESSORS INC. is currently seeking a full-time Plant Supply Chain Manager.
This position is responsible for the effective management of all Plant Supply Chain functions and storage areas with minimal waste and effort. This position works with exempt-level personnel and non-exempt personnel as necessary to coordinate all material flow throughout the plant so that material is at point-of-use when needed. This person maintains inventory accuracy, leads and coaches direct reports - removing obstacles and providing them the necessary training and tools to successfully perform their job functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Include the following, but other duties may be assigned.
- Directs the daily activities of Plant Supply Chain key personnel so that performance goals (inventory accuracy, delivery of material to point-of-use when needed, reasons for material shortages, shipping goals) are achieved.
- Directs activities of Plant Supply Chain associates thru Plant Supply Chain Supervisor.
- Determines root cause for underachieving performance goals and implements corrective actions.
- Develops and enforces standard work to reduce variation and cross training to increase flexibility across personnel.
- Drives continuous improvement by continually evaluating storage and flow of material to reduce safety hazards and eliminate material handling (waste).
- Develops/maintains processes for entire plant supply chain that ensures material is at point-of-use when needed by internal and external customers and that part shortages are quickly identified and communicated to appropriate personnel.
- Maintains records of and recommends disposition strategy to BOC Manager/Vice President of Finance for slow moving, and excess stock.
- Manages all inventory cycle count processes. Drives improved inventory accuracy utilizing ABC cycle counting techniques. Directs the preparation, execution, and reconciliation of fiscal inventories.
- Required to participate in year-end fiscal inventory during Winter Shutdown (as scheduled by senior management).
- Ensures inventory discrepancies are adequately investigated and countermeasures initiated to resolve discrepancies.
- Ensures employees are trained on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; and in methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, pulling and shipping product.
- Reviews employee work for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures.
- Prepares written annual performance appraisals (based on measurable objectives) for and review with direct reports. Keeps BOC Manager apprised of current/potential employee issues.
NONESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintains policies of department accordance with current ISO 9001 requirements.
- Ensures reasons for shortages are documented and if the result of internal supply chain processes fail, implements corrective actions to prevent recurrences
- Encourages teamwork and resolves conflicts among employees.
- Provides leadership for and supervision of assigned staff.
- Ongoing training to keep abreast of current trends in Supply Chain Management
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Certain knowledge, skills and abilities are minimum competencies required for job performance. - A minimum of 5 years experience in relevant supply chain functions.
- A minimum of 3 years supervisory experience is required.
- High level of proficiency in using an ERP system and Microsoft Office programs is required.
- APICS certification strongly preferred and will be required within 1 year of full-time employment.
- A “change agent” mentality is necessary.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines and the flexibility to react to ever-changing priorities is essential.
- Must be able to present a five-year driver history report provided by the DMV - with good driving record.
VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor’s degree in Business/Operations Management is preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in business/operations management can be substituted for 2 years work experience.
- Associate’s Degree in related field from an accredited two-year college in business/operations management can be substituted for 1 year work experience.
- Lean Supply Chain experience preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use of eyes for close vision, use hands, fingers, grasp, handle, reach, listen, talk and may need to talk on the telephone while taking notes. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds or ask for assistance with lifting.
Normal work schedule is Monday thru Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm. Because this is a management position, the incumbent is expected to allocate the necessary time and energy to achieve departmental objectives.
The employee will be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
